INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT DR. HEYAMOTO

Dr. Heyamoto has lectured for the Washington State Dental Association, Oregon State Dental Association, Idaho Academy of General Dentistry, WAGD, Seattle-King County Dental Association, Snohomish County Dental Association and numerous study clubs around the state.  He has served as President of WAGD, Secretary of SKCDS, been a WAGD Alternate/Delegate, an Alternate Delegate for WSDA and is currently the Continuing Dental Education Chair for WAGD.  He also currently serves as the Trustee for AGD's Region 11. This year (2009-10), he is the chairman of the Budget and Finance Committee for the Washington State Dental Association. 

Pursuant to his perfectionist nature, Dr. Heyamoto has demonstrated his need to be accurate by working, for the last 28 years, as a team statistician for the Seattle Seahawks and Washington Huskies.  He tallies all the defensive statistics for the UW football team and tracked assists, turnovers, steals and blocked shots for the UW Men's basketball squad for over a decade.  He also runs the 30 second shot clock for the UW Women's Basketball home games. 

Being judged one of the best at what they do, the Husky Football Stat Crew worked their second straight Rose Bowl Game on January 1, 2010.  If that wasn't enough, Dr. Heyamoto was fortunate to call the defensive statistics for the January 7, 2010 NCAA BCS National Championship Game between Texas and Alabama . He was at the Rose Bowl January 1st 2011 to keep defensive statistics for TCU vs. Wisconsin. 

As a hobby, Dr. Heyamoto creates Ukrainian Eggs using chicken eggs, Batik dyes and dental wax.  Starting with a white egg, Dr. H carefully adds wax over what he wants white, then dyes the egg yellow.  He repeats the process by adding wax over what he wants yellow, then dyes the egg orange. This is repeated until the last dye used is black. Accuracy and intricacy, as well as patience and a steady hand, yield works of art that he donates to charity auctions.

Dr. Heyamoto draws cartoons for the Seattle-King County Dental Society's news journal.  He has also illustrated for the Washington State Dental Association publication on an as needed basis. 

For the last 30 years he has drawn and distributed a free calendar to his patients .... dental themed of course.  His wife's name,Cynthia, and their children Tyler and Taryn's names are hidden in each drawing.  See if you can find them.

In 1999, Jack Canfield and Mark Hansen published their "Chicken Soup" book on Dentistry.  A nationwide search resulted in over 1,200 stories being collected, of which only 64 were chosen.  Dr. Heyamoto's story is on page 120!

Dr. Heyamoto was honored in 2005 by being chosen for the cover story of "Doctor of Dentistry" Magazine. 

The article chronicled his activities within organized dentistry as well as his involvement in community events.

He emphasized the need to be a continuous student, a lifelong learner, which is something he has taken to heart by earning AGD's coveted Fellowship,  Mastership and Lifelong Learner Awards.

This honor came after he had just completed serving two years as President of the Washington State Academy of General Dentistry.

WHO  WE  ARE

JENNIE has been with Dr. Heyamoto for the past 27 years.  She wears all the "hats" but primarily serves as his office manager/scheduler.  She knows insurance as well as anyone in the business.  She's the backbone of the practice and we're very fortunate to have her with us.

 BETH is one of our highly skilled and caring hygienists.  She is extremely gentle and genuinely concerned about your health.  She has worked with Dr. Heyamoto for twelve years.

DALIA has an extensive restorative background and presented to us with an impressive skillset.  She has quickly embraced our system and continues to contribute to the deliverly of our quality dental care. 

CARMEN also has many years of assisting experience.  Having the skill, knowledge and dental training coupled with an honest caring compassionate demeanor has allowed her to rapidly fit well into our system of dental care delivery.

   

CINDY has been employed with us  for over twelve years and works primarily on administrative duties.  You won't find a nicer individual to work with.

TANYA   has joined our team as our full time hygienist.  Her calm demeanor and talented clinical skills make her extremely qualified to treat you comfortably and completely.  You'll never meet a more pleasant caring person. Outside of dentistry, Tanya enjoys spending time with her family.
